Mom explored the town of Flores as it was waking this morning and decided that we should have another day in Guatemala. Luckily, she will be returning from July 22-27. We all explored a Guatemalan supermercado and small panaderia to buy our lunch. It was fun to see some things that were very similar and others that were different than our grocery stores (milk in boxes and bags, ketchup and mayo in bags). Then we made a long trek back across the border to Belize and to our next destination, which feels very far from anywhere. We are staying at a baboon sanctuary. There are no baboons in Belize, but Howler monkeys are often referred to as baboons here. We have a little cabin by the river in the jungle so we may see crocodiles, snakes, or Howler monkeys. We are hoping to only get up-close looks at the Howler monkeys. They were pretty loud right before dinner, so we know they’re out there!
We saw some interesting road signs on our drive today!
Those signs sure are different than the "MOOSE GAWKING" signs you see in New Hampshire! I hope you got a good nights sleep and enjoyed your breakfast. I went on a 6 mile kayak trip with a group of kayakers I met on line followed by a visit to a Thai restaurant on Wednesday. On Thursday I toured three mansions in Newport with a visiting aunt from Florida. This morning I slept until ten o'clock. This retirement stuff is very exhausting!
