Belize - Day 3

We had another terrific day.  This one was spent mostly in the water.  We used every ounce of our 4-wheel drive.  First stop: Rio Frio Cave.  The water was not as cold as advertised, and we spent a couple of hours exploring and swimming in the cave.  Evan navigated his way (leading Nathan) through the river from one entrance of the cave to the other.  It was such fun!  Unfortunately, Mom does not have a photo editor on the computer she has here, so the pictures today are very raw and it is hard to see the stalagmites and other rock formations that we were surrounded by.

Second stop: Rio on Pools.  This was a series of cascades and pools that were perfect for swimming in.  We spent the rest of our afternoon here swimming and riding the waterfall "slides".

Third stop: Big Rock Falls.  We hiked to a lovely waterfall and had the river and fall all to ourselves.  We were an hour from a paved road, so it wasn't surprising that we were away from any crowds, though thus far, we have not seen crowds anywhere that we've gone.

Fourth stop: Dinner at a lodge on the way down the mountain.

Heading up to the cave entrance.

 Getting wet.

Leading Dad from end to end.

We made it to the other side!

Riding a cascade slide.

We bouldered to top of the bigger falls.

Proof that the Red Sox Nation is everywhere - even in Belize.
