Mostly for Grandma and Grandpa

As you know, there were two big storms in less than a week.  You can clearly see the water line for each of them.  It looked like this the entire length of the beach.

 Neighbors cleaning up storm debris.

I doubt water got into Roy and Maisy's house, but you can see the water was clear up to the house and was definitely under the deck.  They also have a new sandy beach in front of the bulkhead.  There is only about 4-6 inches of their bulkhead showing.  The upside is that they can now watch their great grandkids play on the beach without having to go outside.  Your bulkhead fared better.  The front stairs were gone, but I made you new ones.  The big log is gone.

You can barely see the bulkheads here.

This log is going to be a monster to get off the boat launch.

You can't see the red house, but if you look closely you can see their excavator.  All of this debris was pushed up against the house.  They had a little water damage in their boat storage, but not the house.  They were moving all of the logs away from the house and were going to try to push all the sand back next.  Quite a job!

All of the logs by the boat launch were actually pretty fun to play on and with.

Moving logs out grandpa-style.

Cuddle time with Aunt Katy.

Before they could get to work on their own mess, the owners of the red house had to clear a path through the boat launch area in order to get their excavator and trucks through.

Our nice kitty and ferocious dog.  Courtesy of Dad's mad marker skills.  We might start hiring him out for birthday parties.  Nathan was a dog, a tiger, and a raccoon this weekend.

Running free on the bluff.

This guy greeted us this afternoon.
I didn't get pictures of the front of the house, but the water came within about 10 feet of the front porch and garage.  Adam drove the truck (like he always does, not because he was worried) and it was fine.  I'm sure it only had water around the tires.  The logs on the side that lined your property were moved and are in pretty bad shape.  They may need replacing, but not a big deal.  All the neighbors said this was the worse storm they've ever seen.  Nice to know you fared so well!

Science Fair

It's science fair night.  We were very excited to share our projects.  Evan examined how well different household items preserved apples slices.  Hint: Salt is a good preservative, dish soap is not.

Nathan predicted whether different items would sink or float and then tested his predictions.  Exactly half of his items sank and half floated.

Mom even got in on the action.  She presented research in California two weeks ago.
